Ignore the Internet: Ford, Goldblum Not Dead
In the wake of Farrah Fawcett’s and Michael Jackson’s deaths yesterday, someone got carried away and reported the demise of Harrison Ford and Jeff Goldblum, too. Turns out those news bulletins were the work of Internet pranksters, reports the New York Daily News. “Reports that Jeff Goldblum has passed away are completely untrue,” said his publicist. “He is fine and in Los Angeles.”
The hoaxters suggested Goldblum fell to his death while filming in New Zealand, while Ford disappeared on a boat in the French Riviera. Coincidentally, the actors are in the midst of filming Morning Glory, scheduled for release in 2010. Similar pranks targeted Tom Hanks in 2006 and Tom Cruise in 2008; Snopes.com points the finger at websites that allow users to automatically generate fake celebrity death scenarios.(http://www.newser.com)
Jeff Goldblum Not Dead
Representatives for JURASSIC PARK star Jeff Goldblum have dismissed Internet reports the actor has died in New Zealand. Local police reportedly told website MoviesOnline.com that the star had fallen to his death on the set of his new movie.
Officials claimed the actor had fallen from the Kauri Cliffs on New Zealand's North Island while shooting a scene in an unnamed project, but the actor's publicist has denied the story. Lisa Kasteler states, "Reports that Jeff Goldblum has passed away are completely untrue. He is fine and in Los Angeles."( http://www.atpictures.com)
Jeff Goldblum Still Alive and Well
Ordinarily, we don't write articles solely about someone not being dead - because we'd have to write those all day long...but yesterday it was reported that actor Jeff Goldblum had died, and considering it's not true, it's newsworthy to note that the man is still very much alive.
Apparently, while the world was reeling from the deaths of Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson, some idiot just couldn't resist throwing Goldblum into the mix. Several websites had reported Goldblum's death, after gaining the false information from a report coming from New Zealand, which claimed that the actor had fallen to his death on the set of an upcoming film.
Goldblum's rep shot down the horrible rumor, saying, "Reports that Jeff Goldblum has passed away are completely untrue. He is fine and in Los Angeles." Well, he's fine other than all of those phone calls he now has to make to family and friends letting them know that he is still very much alive.
The New Zealand police seem just as baffled by the rumor as we're sure Jeff Goldblum is. Not only did Goldblum not die in New Zealand, but he isn't known to be shooting a film there at all. The people of New Zealand must be really, really bored. Of all the people to make up a rumor about...seriously? Jeff Goldblum?
No word yet on how Goldblum felt about having this insane rumor circulating, but being that Jeff has always had something of a wacky and eccentric personality, we're sure he's taking the whole thing in stride, and has already put his own ironic spin on the whole ordeal. Also likely, is that like us, he's thinking more about the people that actually died this week, rather than the people that pretend-died. (http://www.actressarchives.com)
