Maya Estianty or more commonly known by the name Maia Ahmad is a personnel Duo Maia group. Before forming Duo Maia, a woman born in Surabaya, East Java, January 27, 1977 it formed the music group Ratu with Pinkan Mambo, which were similarly never become backing vocal of Dewa 19.
Just one of their album out, BERSAMA (2003), Pinkan resigned in 2005. Through the audition process, her position was replaced by Mulan Kwok (which changed its name to Mulan Jameela in 2008).
Together with Mulan, Maia released first compilation album titled RATU & FRIENDS (2005) with single Teman Tapi Mesra and Di Dadaku Ada Kamu. In 2006, Ratu released the album NO. ONE, with the mainstay song Lelaki Buaya Darat and Dear Diary.
Mulan decided to leave the Ratu at the beginning of the year 2007. After the vacuum during 1 year Maia is back with the formation Duo Maia, along Mey Chan. They released their debut album titled MAIA & FRIENDS (2008) with the mainstay song Ingat Kamu and E.G.P.
Besides singing, Maia also jumped into the acting world. Maia had become one of the comedy actor Extravaganza Trans TV in 2006 but then stopped in the year 2007. Maia also had time to play some sit-com episode in the OB (RCTI). Maia ever become a guest star in a horror movie LANTAI 13 (2007).
Maia is married to musician Ahmad Dhani, Dewa 19 band frontman. They met while studying in SMAN 2 Surabaya. Maia married to Dhani at the age of 19 years. From the wedding, they have three children. All three were given names like Sufi figure who became an idol of his father, Ahmad Al Gazali, El Jalaluddin Rumi, and Abdul Qodir Jaelani.
